The delicatessen is unusual in itself as it is set in Cley’s historic Forge which was converted to a shop in 1968. Since it had been left to deteriorate after the great flood of 1953.

Blacksmith demonstrations continued until it was opened as a delicatessen by John Pryor in 1984, later to be joined by his wife Victoria in 1997.

Most of the blacksmith equipment can still be seen in the delicatessen including the 18th century beam drill, tyre moulds, anvil, bellows and the Old Forge itself which now lends itself to wonderful displays of fine food and wine.
